Paint Supervisor


This role reports directly into the Production Assembly Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for paint application, inspection, recruitment, training, and performance management of staff to ensure levels of competency and skill.

Duties will include:

  • Day to day responsibility for the planning and delegation of work in line with operations planning schedules to meet customer requirements and project timelines.
  • Supervising all paint / preparation processes in line with the job sheets, engineering drawings and best practice guidance, whilst considering health and safety, COSHH and quality regulations.
  • Overseeing the preparation of paint materials (correct volumes / minimizing waste).
  • Checking paint thickness, visual checks and environmental conditions are maintained.
  • Liaising and communicating with other departments as necessary building strong working relationships.
  • Ensuring work is completed within the estimated timescales and collaborate with operations planning to assist with the correct estimate of time needed for different finishing.
  • Signing off inspection – any products leaving the paint/finishing area, quality control in line with customer specifications.
  • Ensuring good housekeeping i.e. cleaning of all equipment/paint materials (including maintenance of masks and breathing equipment) and promote a clean safe working environment/tidy workstation.
  • Continually look for ways in which to improve processes.
  • Undertaking and completing any other duties as necessary within the paint department.
  • Mentoring staff and leading the team to achieve overall success for individuals/department.
  • Problem-solving and planning to achieve goals and meet department targets.
  • Assisting with workload (hands on) when workload dictates. Mask, paint, demask etc.

The successful candidate must have:

  • ICORR Level I Paint Inspection.
  • COSHH.
  • Effective relationship skills with internal staff/external suppliers.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills.

The successful candidate must hold or be able to meet the appropriate Security Clearance as required.
