Further to our statement of 17th March 2020, we wish to provide an update on MacTaggart Scott’s response to this crisis given that the situation has significantly escalated over the weekend period within the UK.
The health and safety of both the MacTaggart Scott workforce and our customer community remains our absolute priority. Recognising the strong messages from the UK Government actions with regard to recent school closures and self-isolation, we have understandably seen a number of our team have to withdraw their physical presence from the business and / or undertake alternate working patterns in order to cater for child care.
For our office based staff this has so far had minimal impact as we have utilised our secure IT systems to enable home working during required isolation periods. However, this is obviously not a choice for our Production teams. Whilst we operate alternative shift patterns, we recognise that a lesser production capability will start to impact on schedules in due course, but at this early stage, it is very difficult to determine the exact scale of the disruption to come.
For the workforce still in situ, we continue to support social distancing as required by the UK Government, with the suspension of staff travel still fully in force. In addition, all essential meetings are being conducted remotely via telephone or skype in order to minimise close contact. All non-business critical meetings are cancelled for the foreseeable future.
Our Board is now convening at multiple points throughout the day to assess the impacts of the latest Government statements as the situation continues to evolve. As we are sure you will appreciate, the situation is changing rapidly now.
We remain committed to maintaining our business operations but hope that you will understand that the rate of escalation of COVID-19 means that impacts are still unclear.
Please note for information purposes that each customer will be updated accordingly if there is a specific impact to your own orders and / or programme.
We hope that you are your teams remain safe and healthy as this unprecedented situation evolves.
Thank you for your continuing understanding and patience in this matter
