During her tour of Australia and New Zealand, the Rt Hon Anne-Marie Trevelyan, the then Secretary of State for International Trade, visited MacTaggart Scott Australia as part of a visit to Adelaide. She saw first-hand the refurbishment work being carried out on the MacTaggart Scott equipment used by the Collins class submarines, and was particularly interested in the way the Australian Company has been established, how quality has been maintained and the skill sets required. She was accompanied by Her Excellency Vicki Treadell, the UK High Commissioner to Australia.

The Secretary of State's visit to Australia was a key part of preparing businesses to make the most of the UK-Australia Free Trade Agreement worth £2.3 billion.
